Ever since I began elementary school, I've always had homework. I used to absolutely depise it and find it to be a complete waste of time and another excuse for teachers to assign busy-work. But the older I got, the more I learned and understood the importance and reason for it. It helps you grasp the lesson because you're learning to do it by yourself and teaches you to do it without the teacher there to help. You're forced to have to think more because you're on your own. It also helps you learn to take better notes while in class so you know what to do when you're at home. But there are exceptions to the whole homework being cool thing. I absolutely can't stand research assignments and things of that sort. In my opinion, it's all clearly busy-work, as if the teacher just didn't know what to assign, but knew they had to assign something worth a lot of points. I don't think homework should count for a lot of points because you're not able to ask questions when you're at home, and I love to ask questions so I completely understand. Most kids, though, will never understand that homework does help you in some ways.
